Sharmill Films and Luna Cinemas are delighted to share Florian Zeller’s highly anticipated feature film THE FATHER, based on the Tony, Olivier and Moliere award-winning play.

Anthony is a mischievous man of 80, who lives alone in his London apartment and refuses each of the nurses that his daughter Anne tries to impose upon him. But as his mind begins to unravel and his sense of reality is slipping away, both father and daughter are forced to contend with an uncertain future, and with their enduring love for each other.

THE FATHER stars Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (The Remains of the Day) as a charismatic but fragile titular patriarch, against Academy Award winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) as his increasingly frustrated daughter. The film also stars Rufus Sewell (The Man in the High Castle), Imogen Poots (Green Room) and Mark Gatiss (The Favourite), with a script by Florian Zeller and Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton (Atonement).

THE FATHER premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

Dave Robertson sings about kissing, climate change, cult 70s novels and more kissing. His thoughtful, sometimes cheeky, lyrics are personal, political, playful and powerful. Influences range from story-teller singer/songwriters like Ani Difranco, Paul Kelly, and Jason Isbell, to the atmospherics of bands such as The National and The Cure.

Rachel Armstrong accompanies with violin, mandolin and sweet harmonies. The duo is a subset of Dave’s full band The Kiss List who play a diverse mix of original indie folk and pop. Their album Oil, Love & Oxygen was an epic DIY project recorded across ten houses, and their latest single Canary in the Coal Mine has been played nationally on Double J and glowingly reviewed.
